ARTIST & PERFORMANCE 2023 SUBMISSIONS NOW closed

ARTWORK SUBMISSION

Youth Art submissions Elementary, Middle, and High School sign-up to participate.
Two (2) submissions per student.
1. Art relating to Black History worldwide.
2. Art relating directly to your culture from your country.

Students upload your artwork in PDF or Image format as a sample, sign-up here. All art must be on 8 1/2 x 11 paper any medium and labeled at the bottom right. Art will be picked up at your school, between November 2022 and the due date January 31, 2023.

All art will be displayed at the event and winners will be selected by the event guests.
Elementary school wins: 1st - $100; 2nd - $75; 3rd - $50 
Middle school wins: 1st - $300; 2nd - $200; 3rd - $100
High school wins: 1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $125

Youth Entrepreneurs sign-up here to showcase & sell at the 2nd Annual Black History Youth Awareness Art Festival on February 17 2023. Tables will be are provided to share, show and sell your skill or trade: Clothing, Henna, Bracelets, kindness rock painting, videos, etc.

TENT & TABLE REQUEST SUBMISSION

The 2nd Annual Black History Youth Awareness Art Festival Tent and Table Space Request are limited to 15 tent spaces. Shared tent space is encouraged. Sign-up here to submit your space request by February 3, 2023.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP

Would you like to help us and volunteer at BHYAAF? We are asking members of our community to help Habitat for Humanity assist in set up and event management during the event.

We have two shifts that we need help with:
Set Up: 9 am - 3pm
Event logistics and tear down: 8pm-10pm

About the Festival

BLACK HISTORY YOUTH AWARENESS ART FESTIVAL (BHYAAF) IN COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS SHOWCASES YOUTH ARTIST AND ENTREPRENEURS.

2023 BLACK HISTORY MONTH THEME - BLACK RESISTANCE. AFRICAN AMERICANS HAVE RESISTED HISTORIC AND ONGOING OPPRESSION, IN ALL FORMS, ESPECIALLY THE RACIAL TERRORISM OF LYNCHING, RACIAL PROGRAMS AND POLICE KILLINGS SINCE OUR ARRIVAL UPON THESE SHORES.

IN CELEBRATION OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH, THE SPADY CULTURAL HERITAGE MUSEUM ALONG WITH CULTURAL ARTS PERFORMANCE & EDUCATION MENTORING (CAPE UNIVERSAL) AND OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS WILL COLLABORATE AGAIN, TO PRESENT THE 2ND ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY YOUTH AWARENESS ART FESTIVAL. HOSTED OUTDOORS AT THE SPADY MUSEUM, THIS COMMUNITY PROJECT AIMS TO ENGAGE PALM BEACH COUNTY YOUTH AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH ART, MUSIC AND BLACK HISTORY.
